Welcome to the new home for Cub Pack 257.  This site is a work in progress, but will become a central place for Pack news, activities, and scouting resources.

All Pack and Den activities are normally held at our Charter Organization, Greenstone United Methodist Church (939 North Home Avenue, Avalon, PA 15202). Pack meetings are held on the third Sunday of every month (please refer to calendar). These meetings are for the entire Pack to meet and distribute awards the scouts receive throughout the year as they progress through their rank. Den meetings are scheduled by each individual Den Leader for the year. These meetings consist of scouts within the same Den (age group) working on activities that need completed to earn their rank advancement.

Popcorn Show and Sell at Kuhns – Saturday, September 17

Once again the Pack will be selling popcorn, as a group and to benefit the Pack’s general fund, in the Kuhn’s parking lot.  This sale is not to be confused with Scout’s individual sales in which the Scout receives a percentage in his PA account.  This is a direct-to-the-Pack sale.

We need volunteers to help us sell.  Mr. Madsen will be leading our efforts, and you can email him at the address below to sign up…

We’ll set up a tent at Kuhn’s on Saturday, September 17 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.  We can go until 3:00 if we have enough help.  We’re just looking for a parent and Scout to volunteer an hour. 10 – 11, 1 – 2, etc.  Scouts need to be in Class A uniform!

September 2016 Pack Activities

We are excited to gear up for a new Cub Scouting year! There are many activities planned for the upcoming year, so don’t miss out!

September 18 – First Pack Meeting of the new scouting season! We will be meeting (as usual) in the dining hall of Greenstone Methodist Church starting at 6:30pm.

September 24 – Pack bon fire at Fern Hollow Nature Center in Sewickley. Come and meet fellow scouts and leaders! Located at 1901Glen Mitchell Road, Sewickley, PA 15143.

September 30-October 2 – Pack camping trip to Camp Twin Echo in Ligonier, PA. Limited indoor bunks are available for non or beginner campers and there is always plenty of outdoor space to pitch a tent. Registration information to be posted soon.

Fall is in the air and pumpkin spice lattes are in everyone’s cup coffee cup! That means it is time for the Annual Cub Scout Pack 257′s Halloween party.

October 23 – Pack Meeting (Halloween Party)

Start planning your costume now so that you can be in the running for the following contests:

  • Most scariest
  • Most funniest
  • Most original
  • Best overall

To be eligible to win in one of the four contests, your costume must be homemade (not store bought). Come a little earlier to participate in some fun activities before the meeting. Please bring 1/2 dozen cookies or some sort of snack to share with the Pack. Coffee, bug juice, and water will be provided.
